Central to the legitimacy and function of Nigeria’s electoral democracy is a fair, non-partisan, and just legal framework. In particular, the process of adjudicating complaints and resolving election disputes is key. However, Nigeria’s judicial branch remains susceptible to political pressure and the abuse of injunctive orders, wherein a judicial decree is issued to stop events or to prevent someone from taking part in the elections.
