Medical Negligence Law Firm in Nigeria
We are all familiar with the Hippocratic Oath that medical doctors take during their induction. However, the question arises: Is this oath effectively upheld by medical practitioners in Nigeria? Medical negligence is a particularly sensitive area of law, impacting the lives of those who have placed their trust in healthcare professionals. OAL is dedicated to assisting clients not only in receiving the compensation they deserve but also in holding accountable those responsible for their suffering, and to pursuing the justice they rightfully seek.
At OAL, we understand the deep trust patients place in medical professionals and the devastating impact when that trust is violated on account of negligence or error. Our firm is committed to assisting clients who have suffered from medical malpractice.

Our Track Record: The Case of Peju Ugboma
One of the notable cases that highlights our commitment to justice is the heartbreaking loss of Peju Ugboma, a jovial, energetic and cherished member of her community.
In April 2021, Peju underwent what was supposed to be a routine surgical procedure at Premier Medical Centre. Tragically, the operation went wrong, leading to complications that resulted in her untimely death.
OAL was retained as lead counsel by Peju’s family to pursue justice and accountability. We provided legal services;
- Filed petitions with the Medical and Dental Disciplinary Council of Nigeria.
- Requested a coroner’s inquest into Peju’s untimely death.
- Demanded an independent investigation into the facilities and operational procedures at Premier Medical Centre.
- Petitioned the Lagos State Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency to investigate and potentially place the hospital under temporary closure.
This case has become a pivotal rallying point for patient rights and healthcare accountability in Nigeria.
