Samiat Olamide Alabi is an Associate II at Olisa Agbakoba Legal (OAL) and a member of the firm’s Dispute Resolution and Maritime Law Practice Groups, with over 10 years of post-call experience. Her practice focuses on commercial litigation, debt recovery, and maritime-related matters, where she provides strategic, commercially driven legal solutions to a broad range of clients.

She has developed significant experience in complex dispute resolution, enforcement of financial and contractual obligations, and litigation strategy across multiple sectors, including banking, agriculture, and real estate. She is known for her strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to align legal strategy with clients’ commercial objectives.

Prior to joining Olisa Agbakoba Legal, Samiat was actively involved in Intellectual Property practice, advising on trademark prosecution, patent advisory, and brand protection for local and international clients.

Earlier in her career, she gained extensive experience in commercial law, corporate advisory, and company secretarial services, providing her with a well-rounded understanding of both contentious and non-contentious legal practice.

She also served as a Judicial Assistant at the High Court of Lagos State, where she supported judicial decision-making through legal research, case analysis, and court process management.

  • Led and participated in the recovery of over ₦323 Million on behalf of a financial institution from a hospitality company, including overseeing enforcement of security and takeover of mortgaged assets.
  • Recovered over ₦211 Million for the Bank of Industry in respect of a loan facility granted to an agricultural company, including enforcement actions relating to secured assets.
  • Advised a Nigerian bank on recovery of corporate properties from former employees who retained possession for over a decade.
  • Supervised and monitored debt recovery processes, including execution, stamping, and registration of Deeds of Receivership, and enforcement of interim and final court orders.
  • Acted as trademark counsel for international firms and brands, including management and prosecution of IP portfolios in Nigeria.
  • Advised an European company on a ₦100 Million+ cross-border collaboration for the importation and assembly of furniture in Nigeria.
  • Advised on and supported acquisition and development structuring of land for a bespoke private cemetery project, including regulatory interface with government authorities.
  • Drafted and reviewed complex commercial agreements across finance, energy, technology, and real estate sectors, including security documentation, share purchase agreements, and service-level agreements.
