OAL for over 30 years has provided advisories to courts in Nigeria on Speed of Justice. The Advisory was the result of acute delays in banking cases caused by ineffective rules of procedure applicable to courts. OAL began a project called the Nigerian Court Procedures Project (NCPP) to significantly reduce or eliminate delays in trials by reforming the civil procedures system in superior courts.
OAL has been retained by the Attorney General of the Federation of Nigeria to advice on appropriate legal framework of a Trade Policy for Nigeria. OAL noted that Nigeria currently has no extant Trade Policy but understands that the Minister of Trade and Investment has issued a consultation paper to articulate a new Trade Policy for Nigeria.
OAL advised various government space agencies including the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASDRA) on International best practices and laws relating to Space Administration in Nigeria. OAL has provided draft legislation for consideration at the National Assembly.
OAL provided Legal Institutional and Regulatory Advisory services to Government, Ministries and Agencies of Nigeria with a view to strengthen the Financial Services sector. The Financial Services Sector (FSS) is the oxygen and lifeblood of a strong economy. However, the Nigerian Financial Services system is not operating optimally because many key legislation and institutions are absent.
Olisa Agbakoba Legal (OAL) was appointed as technical consultants to advise the Federal Government of Nigeria to develop a new National Arbitration Policy. The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mr. Abubakar Malami SAN inaugurated the National Arbitration Policy Committee on 7th October 2020.
OAL has advised the Honourable Minister of Aviation on the importance of legislation to promote and develop Nigeria’s local domestic Aviation capacity. The Advisory proposal reviewed the fragile state of domestic Aviation in Nigeria and recommended that, just like in the USA, the government of Nigeria needed to enact the FLY NIGERIA ACT.
